Zeel Desai Storms into Semifinals at the Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Open $15,000 Women's ITF Tennis Tournament
Chatrapati Sambhajinagar, April 3, 2026: India’s second seed Zeel Desai delivered a commanding performance to book her place in the semifinals of the the Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Open Endurance $15,000 Women's ITF Tennis Tournament organized by EMMTC in association with Chatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation under the Auspices of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) being played at the Endurance-MSLTA Marathwada Tennis Centre (EMMTC) at Divisional Sports Complex Chh. Sambhajinagar.
In the singles quarterfinals, Second seed Zeel Desai continued her strong run, overcoming compatriot Jennifer Luikham 6-3, 6-1 in 1 hour and 13 minutes to make her second semifinal in a row she will take on Fourth seed Elina Nepliy of Russia who defeated sixth seed Ksenia Laskutova 6-2, 6-3 in 1 hour and 9 minutes.
In another match, Tea Kovacevic of Bosnia Herzegovina registered a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over seventh seed Elena Jamshidi in 53 minutes. She will clash with Top seed Zhibek Kulambayeva of Kazakhstan who stopped the winning streak of Wildcard IMadhurima Sawant 6-1, 6-0 in just 55 minutes.
In the doubles semifinals, the top-seeded pair of Kulambayeva and Ekaterina Yashina defeated the Indian duo of Saumya Ronde and Chevika Reddy Sama 6-3, 6-3 to enter the final.
The third-seeded combination of Anastasiya Kuparev and Sevil Yuldasheva upset the second-seeded Indian pair of Soha Sadiq and Madhurima Sawant in a hard-fought contest, winning 6-4, 1-6, 10-3.
