Mr Nandan Bal to receive prestigious Dhyanchand Award

MSLTA and the entire tennis fraternity of Maharashtra is proud of Shri Nandan Bal who has been bestowed with the Prestigious Dhyanchand Award by the Government of India . The award was announced by Shri Kirren Rijiju Sports Minister yesterday
 
As Tennis Player Nandan was the National Junior Champion, Member Indian Junior team to Europe , Three times Men’s National Singles Champion 1983, 1984, 1985 and ranked amongst top three players in India in 1978, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83 and 84
 
Mr Bal was Indian Davis cup team member from 1978-1983 (Debut against South Korea in 1978 in Seoul) , Silver Medallist, Team event at the Asian Games, New Delhi, 1982 , Silver Medallist, Men’s Singles at the World University Games in Mexico City, 1979 (First Indian to win a medal at the World University Games)
 
He was Ranked in the top 250 players on the ATP Tour in 1980. Reached the final round of Wimbledon Qualifying event in 1980
 
As a tennis Coach he Coaches of the Indian Davis Cup team from 2000-2013. The Indian team qualified for the World Group qualifying twice in that period.
 
He was Coach of the Indian Fed Cup team from 1996-1998 and again in 2017 , Captained the Indian team for Beijing Olympics, 2008, Guangzhou Asian Games, 2010 where India had a tally of two Golds and one Bronze And the Commonwealth Games, 2010 where India had a tally of one Gold, one Silver and two
Bronze.
 
He is International Tennis Federation Level 3 coach, highest possible certification by the I.T.F. for a coach
 
As a Tennis Administrator he Currently serving as Selection Committee member, All India Tennis Association (A.I.T.A.)
And also serving as member of coaching committee of Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (M.S.L.T.A.)
