Maharashtra’s Arjun Kadhe is New Men’s National Tennis Champion
Pune, March 21: Maharashtra’s Arjun Kadhe sustained his ambition becoming the new Nationals Tennis Champion as he beat Prithvi Sekhar of Railways 6-3,6-4 in the men’s singles final of the National hard court tennis championship at the Tennis Project, Baliawas, Gurugram, today .
The men’s national title was the only title that eluded the Pune Based Arjun Kadhe who trains with Hemant Bendrey at PYC Hindu Gymkhana. Kadhe had lost in three nationals finals before. Kadhe is a part of the MSLTA’s Vision Programme .
The 27 year old Kadhe also joins the coveted list Of players who have won the U12,U14,U16,U18, Men’s and Men’s Doubles National Championships.
In the women’s event, second seed Shrivalli Bhamidipaty of Telangana upset top seed Vaidehi Chaudhari of Gujarat 6-2,7-6(2) to be crowned the women’s national champion.
The defending champion Niki Poonacha had the consolation of winning the doubles title with Anirudh Chandrasekar.
Sai Samhitha did well to win the doubles title in partnership with Rishika Sunkara, beating the top seeds Soha Sadiq and Saumya Vig in two tight sets.
The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr Suman Kapoor Jt Secretary AITA , Zeeshan Ali Coach of indian Davis Cup team , and Vishal Uppal Captain of Indian Fed Cup Team.
