Arnav Paparkar, Vaishnavi Adkar, 31 others receive MSLTA Annual Awards
Mumbai, December 26: Maharashtra International ladies and men’s Tennis player Rutuja Bhosale, Arjun Kadhe, Mini junior Nationals Champions winner Arnav Paparkar, India No. 1, in Girls under 16 Vaishnavi Adkar, and 31 other players, officials and coaches were awarded the MSLTA annual awards for their performances for the year ended 2020.
Akanksha Nitture, Vedant Bhasin, Nainika Reddy, Samarth Ujjaval Sahita, Manas Dhamne who emerged as No 1 ranked Maharashtra tennis players in their respective age groups for the year 2020.
The awards totalling over Rs 10 lakhs were given away at the hands of Dr. Juergen Morhard, Consul General of Germany, General Secretary of Maharashtra Olympic Association, Shri Namdev Shirgaonkar, Dhyan Chand Awardee Shri Pradeep Gandhe, Shri Sharad Kannamwar, Life president of MSLTA, Shri Balchandra Bhagwat, Life Vice President, Shri. Bharat Oza, President MSLTA, Shri Sunder Iyer, Hon. Secretary MSLTA, Shri Rajeev Deshpande & Shri Rajiv Desai, Hon. Jt Secretary, MSLTA.
Life president of MSLTA Sharad Kannamwar and President of MSLTA Bharat Oza were awarded the life time award for their service to MSLTA. Court No 1 was dedicated in the name of Mr. Shard Kannamwar while the Players Lounge at MLSTA was dedicated to Shri Bharat Oza on the occasion.
Newly Developed MSLTA Sports Science Centre, Padel Tennis Court and Clay Courts and Smart Tennis Courts using technology from Israel which are all firsts in Mumbai were also inaugurated on the occasion.
Special awards were given to Shri. Nandan Bal for receiving the prestigious Dhyan Chand Award – 2020 for lifetime achievement and contributions towards promotion of Tennis by the Government of India. ITF Gold Badge Referees, Mr. Nitin Kannamwar for being appointed as referee for Tennis Event at the Paralympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan. Ms. Avanee Gosavi for being Chair Umpire for Tennis Event at the Paralympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan. Supriya Chatterjee for being appointed as National Female Ambassador for Tennis Officiating by ITF.
Awards were also given to coaches for producing National Champions the Coaches who were felicitated include Mr. Hemant Bendrey, Mr. Prosonjit Paul, Mr. Ethiraj Naidu and Mr. Imran Shaikh.
It is wonderful to recognise the contribution of our senior administrators, and also felicitate our players who bring laurel to the State and the Nation, said Shri. Sunder Iyer Hon Sec MSLTA.
He also added the New Sports Science Centre planned by MSLTA will be operational in January 2022, the centre will be the first by any State Association and will cater to tennis players from Mumbai and the entire State and also to players from other sports.
The Sports Science Centre which will be based in MSLTA will have top sports scientists advising and consulting players he added.
